For my History Day project topic I chose the Bill of Rights. I chose this topic because I felt it perfectly fit the project theme, “Turning Points in History”. I feel the Bill of Rights was the most interesting topic for me to my history project because of how it changed America and changed the future of America.

I started research on this topic with the knowledge I already had from learning in the classroom. I researched the history of the Bill of Rights and the people involved in creating this document. I used the internet for a majority of my research. I found many useful websites that helped me more understand on why the Bill of Rights was created and who was involved. I then used our class history book to do research on the first ten amendments that are included in the Bill of Rights. I watched several videos on the internet about the Bill of Rights to learn more about the contents of the document. The research I did helped me better understand my topic.

For my project I chose to build a website. I chose to build a website because I like working with computers. I used WordPress to build my website because I’m familiar with the interface and have used it before. I used a simple layout to present my topic through different sections and pages of the website. I used images and videos throughout the website to better explain and show the viewer about the Bill of Rights. I used pages to split my presentation into the proper categories about the Bill of Rights. I also added backgrounds and header images to make the website grab the viewers attention. To finish the website I made sure all spelling and grammar was correct and cleaned up the design of the website.

The Bill of Rights was a true turning point in history. It was just an idea at first but it changed the way we live our daily lives. James Madison greatly influenced the Bill of Rights. Of the twelve amendments that were proposed only ten were ratified to become known as the bill of rights. The Bill of Rights changed America forever. It still is in affect today and affects American’s lives. The Bill of Rights was just an idea at first but it became part of the constitution. There were people like James Madison and Thomas Jefferson that greatly influenced the Bill of Rights. It changed the way Americans lived forever and that’s why the Bill of Rights is a “turning point in history”
